While European companies continue to lead the way in reporting on their corporate responsibility (CR) activities, more and more US companies are reporting on their efforts and actions as well. KPMG’s International Survey of Corporate Responsibility Reporting 2011 reveals that 100 percent of UK companies in the study reported on CR, compared to 83 percent of US companies. (KPMG included in their research 3,400 companies representing 34 countries around the world.) In addition to being good for a company’s reputation, innovation and employee motivation, the study authors say that companies are increasingly seeing CR as basic good business – a “fundamental imperative for businesses.” That’s encouraging news for consumers and investors looking for CR benchmarks.
